Alligator season

• Bringing In The
Beast
Bow or Crossbow with Gator Getter Broadhead (we like to use
Interloc brand) and breakaway arrow. We use 600lb. test cord made
especially for bowfishing for big game (sharks, gar, gators). On the
end of the string (about 10-15 yards) we have a float fastened. If
you have ever seen "Jaws", you know what we are talking about. This
is shot into the gator (the neck is the best place due to the softer
hide there and better penetration) and the chase is on! This is the
most successful and preferable method. Bow poundage of 60lb. is
absolute minimum!
OR the use of a Fishing Rod (large surf rod). A large treble hook is
cast over the gator and the gator is then snagged due to a hard,
powerful hook set. The gator is then fought to the boat like a
trophy Marlin. Except more dangerous!
• About The Equipment
All gator harvest equipment will be provided, (must bring your tag
and have S.C. hunting license, and appropriate clothing for what
weather we may run into) each paying customer can bring one guest
for no extra charge but this guest must also have a SC hunting
license.
Gators
will be taken with a harpoon along with the bow and crossbow, in
addition we also have a 44 mag. Bang-stick to dispatch the
alligator, the hunt will be 2 nights (if needed) and 5 hours per
night of actual hunting time (this time limit is a estimate
depending on how the night is going, we may stay longer or shorter
depending on if we are working good alligators or weather may stop
us) At Tail and Scale we want everyone to fill the tag they were
drawn for so we will do everything we can to make this happen and
enjoy ourselves during the hunt.
When you get your trophy Tail and Scale Outfitters will transport your trophy to Cordray's for processing
& taxidermy (transport does not include processing or taxidermy fees).
